Uniemp Actions

There are many partnership options offered by Uniemp to companies, government agencies and universities and research institutes. Uniemp acts as the liaison between these three segments to develop science, technology and innovation. Uniemp is equipped to coordinate scientific projects for its clients.

To be a member of Uniemp is to be associated with knowledge.

Uniemp is involved in projects for:
Companies in the private sector
Companies in the public sector
Research institutes

PRIVATE SECTOR COMPANIES
Uniemp identifies the ideal partner in universities to develop research to meet the specific needs of each company. The package prepared is aimed at the productive sector and focuses on the final product to be developed, which can be filing a patent, developing basic research in the university's own laboratories, or training or identifying specialized human resources for the areas in which the company operates.

What Uniemp intends to show private enterprise is that they do not need to have their own laboratories or hire researchers to invest in technological research or development. All this can be achieved under agreements entered into with universities and research institutes.

An example is the Evasin Project that, when completed, will market a new drug developed in Brazil to prevent high blood pressure. Biolab-Sanus, Biosintética and União Química laboratories joined forces to invest in research carried out by institutes and universities.

Uniemp's partners are companies of all sizes. When hiring research students, one of the options is for the company to provide the researchers with a grant and have them develop the study of interest to the company. Companies such as Embraer and Rhodia have signed on for such programs.

Uniemp also offers Internet access services and project development in information technology and promotes telecommunication market studies and research for companies in the industry.

GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES, ENTITIES AND COMPANIES
Uniemp acts as project manager for governmental agencies, entities and companies, monitoring and measuring each stage of the process. As end products, Uniemp offers tools for managers to evaluate projects and, when advisable, to redirect their activities, always focusing on achieving excellence in the overall results.

An example of the above is the work performed for the Programa de Qualificação Profissional do Estado de São Paulo (Professional Qualification Program of the State of São Paulo) of the State Department of Labor between 1999 and 2000, in which Uniemp supervised its effectiveness and evaluated its social benefits.

In addition, Uniemp develops programs to train public managers to formulate and implement public policies at any government level. Courses are structured according to the specific needs of the contracting entity.

Uniemp can be hired by a single public institution, as in the case of the graduate program in Management at the University of the State of Mato Grosso, or by a group of them.

Uniemp can organize studies and research for social and economic development in information technology, such as the implementation of ERP -- Enterprise Resource Planning -- at the Official Press of the State of São Paulo or the local management project for the Municipality of São João da Boa Vista (state of São Paulo), where methodologies and procedures were established for implementation of a budgetary information system in the municipality.

RESEARCH INSTITUTES
Uniemp organizes discussion forums, courses, conferences and seminars, always aimed at generating new ideas and stimulating innovation. For the Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares (Energy and Nuclear Research Institute), for example, it structured three graduate extension courses and a master's degree level course: Business Quality and Productivity, Telecommunications Economics, Highway Management, and Business Quality and Productivity.

Another service offered by Uniemp is to identify research partners, as for example for the anti-Aids vaccine project, requested by the Hutchinson Cancer Research Center of the United States and carried out in Brazil by STD/Aids Reference and Training Center and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Uniemp also manages virtual projects, such as the cancer and sugarcane genome projects and the Combro virtual network, which was created to allow an exchange of scientific information on the Internet to improve handling and fighting CBP - the borer-blight complex pest that attacks sugarcane plantations.
