Antônio Carlos Martins de Camargo

Antonio Carlos Martins Camargo earned his degree in Medicine from the Universidade de São Paulo [University of São Paulo (USP)] - Ribeirão Preto Campus. Professor Camargo is the Director of the Instituto Butantan Applied Toxicology Center and full professor of USP. He is also a Member of the Brazilian Academy of Science and of the State of São Paulo Academy of Science. He began his career as a scientific researcher at USP's Department of Pharmacology, and has a post-doctorate degree from the Brookhaven National Laboratory of New York.

Professor Camargo was a researcher for the Wellcome Foundation, in England, for INSERM (CNRS Gif-sur-Yvette), France, and for JICA at Kobe Gakuin University, Japan. He was the faculty's representative at the University Council of University of São Paulo (USP) and vice-director of the Biomedical Sciences Institute of USP.
