Regina Scivoletto graduated from the College of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (USP). Her entire university career was in USP where she reached the position of Full Professor of Pharmacology, and occupied the positions of Vice-Director of the Biomedical Science Institute/USP, President of the Graduate Courses Commission of the same Institution, and several other academic and administrative positions.

She focused her researches on high blood pressure and has various scientific papers published in important academic publications.

In 1995, Prof. Scivoletto was included in the list of the most important scientists of Brazil, based on data from the Institute for Scientific Information.

After retiring from USP, she became a member of AGIF - Agência de Gestão de Inovação Farmacêutica [Agency for Management of Pharmaceutical Innovation], as a consultant and responsible for prospecting pharmaceutical innovations in Universities and Research Institutes. Form 1987 to 2003 Prof. Scivoletto was a member of the Commission that advises the Brazilian Ministry of Health in the technical and scientific analysis of processes to register new medicine and drugs in the country. She was one of the members of the Brazilian official mission in charge of discussing the procedures/requirements for medicine and drug registration in the Mercosul.
